Dear Families,
We are excited about the prospect of returning to in-person learning in the new year. As Kevin Breen's email from Friday, December 18 indicated, the COVID-19 numbers are heading in the right direction and will support bringing students back to campus for learning and co-curricular activities as long as we do not see another surge. We continue to believe that in-person learning is the best model for education, and we remain committed to bringing students back to campus as long as it is safe to do so.
We also understand that each family's circumstances are unique, and we will continue to honor a family's decision to continue distance learning. Teachers will continue to support distance learners, and we will remain flexible about your child's return to campus if you decide that is right for your child. Part-time distance learning will continue to remain an option. Please contact one of us to discuss what that could look like.
As your family makes decisions about how you will spend your holidays, know that we fully support whatever you decide is best for your family. We know that you understand that your family's decisions may also impact your child's ability to return to school on January 4th, and that is okay. We will maintain flexibility for all families who decide to travel or participate in gatherings, and we also expect that families will honor the return to campus requirements for the health and safety of our entire Marshall community.
As you are making plans, please consider the following:
We will take a break from asking you to respond to CrisisGo notifications this week and into next, but ask you to complete the daily health screening again Monday, December 28 through Thursday, December 31 to get a read on the health of our internal community as we prepare to return to in-person learning.
We will send additional information about our return to campus prior to the New Year. Until then, we wish you a safe and healthy holiday season!
#ToppersTogether,
UPDATED MDH GUIDELINES For families that will travel or have gatherings with people outside of their household during the holidays, we strongly suggest that families follow updated MDH guidelines and complete, at a minimum, a 7-day quarantine at home with a test for COVID no sooner than day 5. If we are able to return to in-person learning, this may mean that a student will need to continue studying online until they complete their quarantine and receive a negative COVID test result.
HOLIDAY CONVOCATION RECORDING The Marshall community gathered on Friday, December 18, to share in the many talents of our students and to connect and celebrate the holiday season together during our Winter Holiday Convocation. A recording of the convocation is available on the Marshall School website at this link.
WINTER HOLIDAY BREAK The break is a homework-free break for students. Those with missing work may continue to submit assignments to Schoology during the break, according to their teachers' guidelines.
Office hours for the holiday break will be 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. The school building will be closed on December 24-25 and January 1.
