Celebrating the Work of Sister Mary Charles '43

The Tweed Museum of Art is pleased to announce a new exhibition featuring the work of Sister Mary Charles McGough (1925-2007). The exhibition is a collaboration between the Tweed Museum and St. Scholastica Monastery, and it is the first treatment of this prolific and regionally beloved artist, whose career spanned 60 years. The Monastery holds much of Sister Mary Charles’ s art and archive and has published a book about her art and life, which will be released in conjunction with the exhibition opening.

Celebrating our Stars--Send us a Selfie!

WHAT ARE YOU UP TO, JOEY? I will be starting my second semester of my sophomore year when I return in the beginning of February. I am a Psychology major and have a concentration in neuroscience. I am a member of the St. Olaf Curling club team as well as the Tennis team. Our tennis season begins when I return to campus as well and it should be a very successful season. I currently have two campus jobs. I work for St. Olaf public safety and string rackets for the tennis teams.

WHAT’S AHEAD? After college I plan on going to grad school to get my master’s in Psychology.

You can star at this year’s Marshall Magic Auction with a quick click, a paragraph and a fun attitude. One of the ways we are capitalizing on the Starry Night theme is by featuring our  Hilltopper alumni stars in our first-ever “Selfie Campaign.”

We want to know a little information about what is going on in your life. For recent graduates, this could mean telling us where you are in school and what activities and projects you are currently involved in, as well as what you are looking at doing next. For other alums, this could highlight your professional or personal success stories. Earned that big promotion? We want to know. Climbed a mountain recently? Send it our way. Raising a wonderful future Hilltopper child? Absolutely. We want you to brag about anything, and it is our goal to share these accomplishments in a creative way with the Hilltopper community May 3rd at the Marshall Magic Auction.

Here is the “selfie” part of the fun. We also ask with your submission that you include a quick picture of yourself, taken with your cell phone or camera. Yes, we want you to snap a “selfie” and send it our way. This will add a personal touch to the entries we get, and ideally make this campaign even more fun.

And if you want to go one step further, you can even send a fun, quick, less-than-a-minute video describing some of the incredible things you are experiencing.

The goal of all of this is to showcase our amazing alumni doing the exciting things we know (or don’t know) that you are doing.

You can send your submissions to communications@marshallschool.org or you can post them on our Duluth Cathedral/Marshall Hilltopper Alumni page on Facebook.
