annual Hilltopper Fund
The Annual Hilltopper Fund (Hilltopper Fund) is the cornerstone of philanthropy at Marshall. Annual unrestricted gifts to the Hilltopper Fund allow Marshall to provide extraordinary opportunities for learning and discovery; sustain and enhance our distinctive academic programs; extend need-based financial aid to deserving students; help meet emerging needs and challenges; and boldly take advantage of opportunities.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why does the school ask for a contribution in addition to my tuition payment?
Annual fund gifts support the people and programs that make Marshall so extraordinary. This means talented teachers, small classes, and exceptional academic resources. Tuition alone does not cover the full cost of a Marshall education; the school relies on contributions from a variety of donors to support the annual operating budget. Every gift, no matter the size, is important. Gifts to the Annual Hilltopper Fund create an immediate and personal impact, enriching the lives of every student and faculty member, every day, in all areas of Marshall.
Why doesn't the school raise tuition rates to cover all operating expenses?
We believe the Hilltopper community is richer if it is more diverse. We value our families from all economic backgrounds and strive to be accessible to a wide range of families. Although tuition is not tax-deductible, a contribution to the Annual Hilltopper Fund may be deducted from your taxes.
How much does Marshall expect me to give?
Though it is not required, we expect families, alumni, faculty, staff and board members will take part in our community by contributing to the Annual Fund by making a gift at a level that is meaningful to them. Every gift signifies a strong vote of confidence in the students and faculty of this remarkable school.
